Virginia Gay Hospital helps community members stay sun safe this summer!
The Iowa Cancer Consortium, in partnership with the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, will distribute over 80 gallons of sunscreen through its Sun-Safety Community Project this summer. As a 2023 awardee, Virginia Gay Hospital received 2 OF THE GALLONS of sunscreen for visitors to use at our Party in Pink 5K on June 16th, at VGH Party in the Park booth on June 17th and other community events throughout the summer. The Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau is urging Iowans to buckle up during the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) Click It or Ticket high-visibility enforcement effort. The national seat belt campaign, which coincides with the Memorial Day holiday, is May 22-June 4, 2023.In 2022, 55% of traffic fatalities in Iowa were unbelted or unknown.
